Free Camping

How do I find free camping?

I normally first head to Freecampsites.net.  I type in the city/town close to where I would like to camp. The map will display options for free or cheaping camping in that area. I read the reviews for clearance, cell signal, and amount sites availble. I’ll grab the GPS coordinates and load it into Google maps. I’ll then change Google maps to satellite view to see the area. Sometimes there are many areas to camp around the one GPS coordinate given on freecampsites.net.

If I do not find anything to my liking, I will often check out: Campendium.com, iOverlander, FreeRoam app. Or the FreeRoam web site.

I will also use the app US Public Lands app. It is $2.99 to buy, but ABSOLUTELY worth it! Buying this app support fellow nomads Chris and Cherie of Technomadia.

FreeRoam

After you’ve chosen a location you may want to check to see if there will be cell service at that location. A great app for that is Coverge?, also created by Technomadia.

Do you know of others apps or web sites that may help people find free camping? I would love to hear about them. If you contact me and let me know I can add them to the list.
