Where are you going?
I am still in the planning stages but this is what I was thinkin’ so far. The plan in Arizona and New Mexico is very loose right now. I am planning on driving the very south portion of Texas to Brownsville and then around and up to San Antonio, then maybe Austin. Then, who knows!
When is the caravan starting/ leaving?
Around the end of September / beginning of October 2024 we’ll be leaving the Flagstaff, Arizona area.
Do I have to join you for the whole trip?
Nope! Come and go as you wish! If you only want to join us for a certain leg or destination, you are welcome. You are welcome to join us virtually via the Newsletter, also!
What would a typical week look like?
On a typical week, about every 3 days we would have a day off to ourselves. To do our own errands, grocery shopping, laundry, getting water, propane, or exploring something on your own.
Then, about once a week we may go on a longer hike, go to a restaurant, check out something in town. We may camp at state parks along the way.
We may gather some nights for camp fires, have pot lucks, movie nights and popcorn, and morning walks.
Is there a fee to join the caravan?
There is NO fee right now!
If you like to hike, explore, and have a loving heart, we would love for you to join us! Explorers wanted! 😀
It does take a lot of work to plan all of this fun. I am exited to have caravers joining us that appreciate and are grateful for this work, and will automatically just show their appreciation.
If we are not a fit for you, we will enjoy your stay and wish you well on your continued journeys!
This fee pays for the the planning of the trip. Planning where we’ll stay, planning what we’ll do, bringing friends into your life, organizing potlucks, fires, hikes, yoga, etc.

What do I need to pay for?
You’ll need to pay for all of the things you plan on doing. All of your normal groceries, gasoline, propane, any water fees, camping fees, event fees, museum fees, etc.
How fast do you plan on traveling?
We’ll be moving at a pretty good clip. Which means, possibly moving camp weekly, and sometimes maybe even faster at every few days.

Do we need to worry about bad weather on our trip?
Tornado season in Texas typically runs from April through June each year. (source)
Hurricane season in Texas officially beings on June 1st and ends on November 30th, with peak months being August through October. (source)
I do not plan on being in Texas during those months.
What about internet? Will we always be in an area with good internet reception?
I will do my best to find areas to camp in areas with internet reception.
For times when there is no or limited internet reception, I can offer access to my Starlink internet for $1.75 per day. (Transparency: Starlink costs me $165/month or $5.50 per day.) Starlink access can also be used in exchanged for other help you may provide to me and/or the caravan. 😀

General Summary: Leave from the Flagstaff area around the end of September/beginning of October from Flagstaff, we’ll be exploring Lake Mary area, Happy Jack, Strawberry, Payson, Greer, and more! In New Mexico maybe Deming, White Sands National park.
