What is an alpha-amino acid?
An alpha-amino acid is a type of molecule that is made of a central C-atom, labelled Ca, that is bound to a primary amine group NH2 and to a carboxylic group COOH.(1)
Alpha-amino acids are also called α-Amino acids.
Without alpha-amino acids, a human may experience fatigue, irritability, hormonal imbalances, and sometimes even depression. (2)
