How to Live with a Dog using Personal Boundaries instead of Control

Motivation
A dog will follow you if they are hungry and want to eat.
Dog like to play. Sticks. Running.
Dogs like your attention.

Treat equals food that the dog likes. Even REALLY likes.

Comparison

Training a Dog using ControlTraining a Dog using Personal Boundaries
Command a dog to sit and/or push the dog down to sit. “Sit”when, or just after a dog sits, give the dog food it likes
not pull on a leash. Command to “stop pulling”when, or just after a dog pulls on the leash, turn another direction (opposite direction)…maybe, before they are even PUT on lease, walk with them WITHOUT a leash in a confined area, give them food for following you
to come (walk/run to you when you call their name or come commandwhen you want them to come to you, follow you, just talk to them in words and say something like. “I I am leaving now. Would you like to come with me? I’m going to go inside.” and, or you could say, would you like a treat)?
to not jump on youwhen, or just after a dog jumps on you…turn your body around. Do not give the dog your attention.
to stop chewing on something you do not want them to chew onwhen, or just after a dog starts chewing on something you do not want them to chew on, ask them to stop chewing on it. “[Dogs name], will you stop chewing on that?” You could also distract them by offering them a treat.
