Today I spend the day exploring the Darling Mine (GPS: 33.7375, -114.33310) and the Dome Basin mine (GPS: 33.74750,-114.33917), northwest of Quartzsite, Arizona.

Gary bought the Quartzsite Off-Road Atlas a while ago and we are using that to find the mines around here.

Darling Mine

Apparently, the top things they mined from the Darling Mine are tungsten, gold, and copper. (1)
This was just a BIG ‘ol hole in the ground. I did not cross the fence. Gary did. And, he says it was LOOOONG way down! Wow!

Dome Basin Mine
Gary was able to go into the Dome Basin mine. He said he went down about 150 feet! Yikes! He said he found LOTS of bats in there! I am too skerd to go in ’em. Especially this one! Eek.

Dome Basin Mine
Gary is goin’ in! He was in there for a while!

We saw the cross, too. I’m not sure how to people got up there, though. I don’t see a trail.

In the evening, I worked on my AKN web site. I added features for a membership, and membership levels. I added page counts. I’m excited about my web site. 😀
